About Barb

"I recently lost a close friend whose family decided to have a celebrant service. It was very special. One could feel his personality woven into a service that was casual and relaxed, and allowed us to share laughter and tears. We remembered him in a way he would want to be remembered."

"The celebrant service allowed everyone to participate in recalling wonderful memories, and we left the service enjoying a new sense of friendship with all who attended."

Barbara Milton
Certified Celebrant, Minister of Bereavement

Barb started her work career in fashion merchandising as a part time, evening/weekend sales associate in a local department store's fashion accessories. Before leaving the retail and wholesale community she worked her way up to positions in domestic/import buying as well as regional sales management for a number of well-known brands including Burlington Industries, Liz Claiborne and Cracker Barrel Country Stores.

In a reinvention of her career path Barb entered the death care industry in 1999 with the Buchanan Group Inc., one of the largest privately held cemetery and funeral operations in the country.

"Beginning with the end in mind", as Barb would say, she worked every tier of the death care industry and carries a wide assortment if industry certifications, ordinations and degrees. Unlike most professionals within the death care industry Barb has developed and integrated internal and external programs to improve the communities understanding of how "our industry" can help at the time of your personal loss.

While serving within a wide assortment of service clubs and community programs Barb worked with the company to open up their facilities to help celebrate other landmark events in a family's history such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and baby showers.

Barb's community partnerships have included but are not limited to Board positions within Optimist International, American Business Women's Association, Cole-Noble Neighborhood District, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, and the Community Chambers. Professional memberships have included the Cremation Association of North America, International Cremation and Cemetery Association, National Funeral Directors Association, and the Green Burial Council.

Barb is a periodic contributor to industry and community publications such as Angie's List, American Cemetery, American Funeral Director, ICCFA Magazine and speaks routinely at Senior Communities, National Industry conferences and local universities such as Vincennes University, and IUPUI.

Lifelong learning is one of the keys to Barb's success. She has acquired excellent training through degree programs at Wittenberg University, University of Delaware, Butler University, IUPUI, and Kansas University.

Barb is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will gladly brag on all of her family's accomplishments big and small.

Having lived throughout our country Barb supports diversity and embrace every opportunity a day might present ... including meeting you for the very first time.
